Whether your car is ready to be recycled, or still has some miles left in it, it’s important to get the paperwork right when selling your old car.
When you scrap your car with CarTakeBack, the Department of Transport in Shannon will be notified that your car has been recycled, and you’ll be given an official Certificate of Destruction. This is proof that your car has been scrapped and will free you from any responsibility for the car.
For cars that aren’t ready to be scrapped yet, our branches may reuse parts and even repair cars, in these cases the necessary paperwork will be taken care of to transfer ownership, making sure that you’re no longer responsible for the car.
A Certificate of Destruction is an official document which is issued by a CarTakeBack branch when they recycle your scrap car. The certificate proves that you’ve disposed of your car correctly and prevents you from being penalised.
