Much of the year has seen scrap car prices bounce up and down month on month around the same value, November bucked that trend. The average price for a scrap car increased by 9% compared to October. This makes November’s prices the highest recorded! Beating the previous record of €320 in December 2021.
Scrap car prices in November are also up by 14% compared to November 2021. Will the values increase further in December to see out the end of 2022? Either way it’s a great time to scrap your car with record-breaking prices on offer!
The average value of a scrap car is influenced by factors such as, the global demand for scrap metals, any reusable parts, plus the make, model, age, weight, condition, and even location of your car.
About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Ireland. We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, the prices show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
The most frequently scrapped car with CarTakeBack was again the Ford Focus! In November the average scrap price for a Ford Focus rose from €300 the previous month, to it’s current scrap value of €311!
