Scrap car prices in March increase for the first time in 2023! Following losses in January and February, an increase, though of just 1%, is a welcome to those looking to sell their scrap car.
As well as being up month on month, scrap prices are also higher than this time last year, by 8% – giving you an extra €28 in your bank when you scrap your car.
The average value of a scrap car is influenced by factors such as, the global demand for scrap metals, any reusable parts, plus the make, model, age, weight, condition, and even location of your car.
Take a look at the last 12 months trend in the chart below.
About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Ireland. We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, the prices show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
The most frequently scrapped car with CarTakeBack was again the Ford Focus! In March the average scrap price for a Ford Focus was €317. That’s a small increase of €3 compared to the average value in February.
Tip: you can move this table side to side on mobile devices if required.
