So far this year the average value of a scrap car has had it's slight ups and downs. After an increase in June of 5%, July saw prices decrease by 6%. The price being paid for scrap cars are still considerably higher than those last year, July had an increase of 89% compared to July 2021, which equates to prices being €136 higher!
With scrap car prices still higher than they were for much of 2021, it's a great time to get cash in the bank for your old car.

The average value of a scrap car is influenced by factors such as, the global demand for scrap metals, any reusable parts, plus the make, model, age, weight, condition, and even location of your car.

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It's updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Ireland. We've taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, the prices show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
