Average scrap car prices increase for second consecutive month! August saw a 2% increase compared to July. This second increase comes after prices in June were at the lowest level seen this year. Could prices maintain into September as we see the summer out.

About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Ireland. We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, the prices show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
The Ford Focus was the most frequently scrapped car with CarTakeBack at an average value of €281 – that’s a €12 increase compared to the value in July. The Toyota corolla made it into the top five in August and that model saw the largest increase of 7%. All models in the top five saw a rise in value, except for the Opel Astra which was worth just 1% less than in July.
