As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to impact our lives we've seen another drop to scrap car prices this month. Though thankfully the drop wasn't as dramatic as the one seen in April. Scrap car prices in May were down 9% compared to the last month. Prices were a fair amount lower than those seen this time last year, at a reduction of 38%.

The CarTakeBack Customer Services Team are still safely working from home and are able to make arrangements for you to sell your scrap car. Collections of scrap cars are continuing safely, following the Government guidance on social distancing and hygiene. Scrap car collections will only be carried out when it is safe to do so, for both our collection staff and for you.

Scrap Car Price Update May 2020

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Ireland. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
