In June we saw the Coronavirus lockdown measures ease somewhat, though there's still some impact to our day to day lives and our businesses. After the dramatic fall in the prices being paid for scrap cars in April and a further decrease in May, we're happy to report that scrap car prices seem to be recovering slightly. Though we haven't picked up to pre-lockdown prices, June has seen a welcome rise. This month scrap car prices climbed 24% higher than those in May, though June's prices were 24% lower than those this time last year.

The CarTakeBack Customer Services Team are still safely able to help you scrap your car for the best price and to make arrangements for your car to be collected. Collections of scrap cars are continuing safely, following the Government guidance on social distancing and hygiene. Scrap car collections will only be carried out when it is safe to do so, for both our collection staff and for you.

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Ireland. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage.
