The damp weather certainly hasn't affected the scrap market, as prices paid for scrap cars have continued to rise in Ireland this month. Increasing by 10% since May, and the value of scrap cars is a massive 85% up compared to this time last year. We haven't seen prices this good paid for scrap cars in a very long time, if ever!

Prices may start to maintain as we move into July, but as the value of scrap vehicles is currently so high, now is a great time to scrap your car and make a bit of cash for the summer holidays.

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Ireland. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
