After few months of reporting increases, this month the value of scrap cars has reduced. The scrap car prices have fallen by 4% in July compare to those in June. The prices currently on offer are still the second highest we've seen in 2019! Plus, despite this slight drop, the prices paid for scrap cars are still very good, with people getting a massive 78% more money for their car than they were getting this time last year!

Whilst we are still experiencing such fantastic prices, now is an ideal time to sell your scrap car, to avoid the risk of the value dropping further.

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Ireland. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
