Time for the first scrap car price update of 2020. There has been a fairly dramatic drop in the value of scrap cars in Ireland this January, which does actually follow January 2019 when we also saw a fall in prices. The 13% drop seen this month is the biggest we've seen to scrap car metal prices. It's not all bad news though, as the prices paid for scrap cars are 11% higher than they were a year ago. So you're still getting better value for your scrap car.
Prices may level out as we go into February, but in case of any further drop, our prices are valid for seven days, so now is a great time to get a quote for your scrap car.

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Ireland. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
