Porsche have announced that they will drop all of their diesel models from their range due to less demand. The interest in hybrid vehicles is rapidly increasing, and in 2017 only 12% of their worldwide sales were diesel vehicles. They are concentrating on optimised internal combustion engines, and by 2022 Porsche will have invested in more than 6 billion Euros for e-Motability!

Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche AG has said “Porsche is not demonising diesel. It is, and will remain, an important propulsion technology. We as a sports car manufacturer, however, for whom diesel has always played a secondary role, have come to the conclusion that we would like our future to be diesel-free. Naturally we will continue to look after our existing diesel customers with the professionalism they expect.”

The release of the Taycan is expected in 2019, and it will be the manufacture's first fully electric sports car, built to include an ultra-fast charging infrastructure.

Blume stresses: “Our aim is to occupy the technological vanguard – we are intensifying our focus on the core of our brand while consistently aligning our company with the mobility of the future.”

We are really looking forward to seeing what they bring out in the future!
